Geoffrey Marshall
I was born in the West Midlands and as a small child made annual visits to London with my parents. From an early age, I was fascinated with London and have been ever since! History and chemistry were my best subjects. They were difficult to combine and so my first career choice was chemistry. For many years I worked as a research scientist, in the electricity supply industry, specialising in Environmental Analytical Chemistry. I received the Royal Society of Chemistry's Distinguished Service Award. A complete career change beckoned and I trained for the coveted Blue Badge in 1996 and have never looked back. As well as guiding I have written five books including “By Way Travels South of London” published by Sigma in 1993, the award winning, “The Story of Bankside” published by Southwark Council in 2001 and “London's Docklands – A Illustrated Guide”, published by The History Press. My interests are listening to jazz, genealogy, Grand Prix motor racing, watching football and local history. I am always happy to tailor tours to your specification and enjoy the challenge of something different. I would be delighted to share my love of London with you.
