Joanna Oudkerk
Welcome to London, the fabulous and cosmopolitan world-class city I am lucky to call home. I have lived, studied and worked in London for over 30 years. But I’m not just a Londoner: I’m proud to be a London Blue Badge Guide and it will be a privilege to introduce to you the very best of all that this city has to offer you:
- We have four UNESCO world heritage sites: Westminster Abbey and the Houses of Parliament, the Tower of London, Maritime Greenwich and the Royal Botanical Gardens at Kew.
- London is the home of Britain’s Royal Family and a Royal Tradition which dates back almost 1,000 years.
- Art, treasures and curiosities in our world-class (and free!) galleries and museums such as the British Museum, the National Gallery, the Victoria and Albert Museum, Tate Britain, Tate Modern, the Wallace Collection, Natural History Museum and many others.
- The city’s layered history is nearly 2000 years old: there are hidden secrets around every corner, down every alleyway, and even under your feet.
- There are many different cultural quarters with food, shopping and vibes to match.
Our time together will always be tailor made for you and your family/group’s particular interests. There is something for everybody in London and I will enjoy making your experience of even the most famous buildings and collections a very personal one to treasure for many years to come.
Why not join me to explore one of London’s village neighbourhoods? I lead themed guided walks in historical and cultural districts of London, such as Legal London, Spitalfields, Royal St James and Westminster.
Qualifications I have a Law Degree from Cambridge University. I am a fully qualified and practising barrister at the English Bar, with 30 years of experience of the legal world in London.
Background I grew up in Salisbury in Wiltshire. Salisbury is a beautiful, mellow city in South-West England, with a stunning cathedral. It is a short 10 mile drive from the extraordinary UNESCO World heritage site of Stonehenge. So... if you fancy exploring out of London for a day, visit Stonehenge and Salisbury with me. Or visit Bath, maybe? Bath is a UNESCO world heritage city and Britain's only hot spring spa town. It has the remains of an incredible Roman Baths complex and strong literary connections to, amongst others, Jane Austen. I have read all of her novels (at least once) and will "delight in a stroll" with you in her and her characters' footsteps.
Here is a selection of some of the lovely feedback I have received from clients:
