Alex Derham

Hello, I'm Alex!
I studied Ancient History at the University of London. I also studied abroad at Boston College and lived in New York City.
Today, I am a qualified London Tour Guide with over 10 years experience. I believe the best way to see London is to blend historical facts with captivating tales. I specialise in small-group tours, perfect for families, that explore London through stories...
I am a huge sports fan, from football to Wimbledon and everything in between. Including the NFL and NBA. Today, I live in the Olympic Village in East London, and am therefore highly interested in the Olympic Legacy, believing the events of 2012 helped to create the London we see today!
Additionally, I also have a particular interest in the City of London, which is the neighbourhood built on the original Roman settlement. This area is packed full of history as well as quirky traditions and customs. For example, it still features over 100 medieval guilds, one of which I am a member of. Therefore, I can provide a unique insight to this particular culture.
I offer a wide-variety of tours, including:
Interior Tours / Museum Tours:
- Westminster Abbey - One of the most famous landmarks in London, home to Royal events such as Weddings, Coronations and Funerals.
- Tower of London - Our 1,000 year old medieval fortress, that is known for containing the Crown Jewels, being a historic place of executions and now being home to the Beefeaters and Ravens.
- St. Paul's Cathedral - Our country's most significant Cathedral, a 350 year old architectural masterpiece by Sir Christopher Wren.
- Churchill War Rooms - Visit Churchill underground bunker from which he ran World War 2, which was abandoned on 16th August 1945 and remains frozen in time.
