Nate Young
My name is Nate and I am a born and bred Brit, with a passion for exploring the world having been to 54 countries and counting. I have done everything from hiking to Everest base camp to exploring The Great Wall of China and the Taj Mahal to swimming with wild dolphins and giant turtles. So I know what its like to be in a new country, can see London through a tourists eyes and am very aware of the importance of making tours engaging and exciting. No boring tours here! I am extremely enthusiastic about museums and history and can spend 9 hours in a museum one day and go back for another 10 hours the next week, but I am very aware that most people want a far shorter tour and can capture the main points succinctly.
I have four degrees, three of which are at postgraduate level. My undergraduate was at the University of St Andrews where Prince William the heir to the British throne studied. My studies included history, modern and ancient languages, psychology, biology, theology and more so I see London from many perspectives. I completed the highest level professional tourist guide qualification in the UK, the strenuous Blue Badge London Tourist Guide qualification which involved an intensive 1.5 years and 11 challenging exams.
I have written many short stories and studied the art of novel writing, and what is a good tour if not a good story. I worked as a psychological therapist before becoming a tourist guide and this gave me lots of practise explaining things and being attentive to the needs of clients. Now I’ve been a tour guide since 2019.
I have the immense pleasure of guiding the awesome city of London. Having been to many places around the globe, I can really say London offers some amazing world class museums and historical sites. We can explore my personal favourite the British Museum, or the National Gallery, Westminster Abbey, The National Portrait Galley, St Paul’s Cathedral or the Tower of London. We could walk around some of the historic neighbourhoods such as Westminster and the changing of the guards, Legal London and the City of London, or take a trip out of London to Windsor, Stonehenge or Bath. I enjoy guiding everyone from large groups to families and individuals, corporate to holiday makers and I always make sure that a percentage of what I earn goes to charity.
