Gail Jones

I am a Londoner by birth and qualified as a London guide in 1998. I enjoy showing visitors and Londoners parts of London they may never have seen. I am happiest conducting walking tours to parts of London that most tourists don't see, or themed visits. For example I was recently asked to take a group to the British Museum to look at the exhibits from the point of view of the Empire and Influence.
Among the many other walking tours I take here is a selection :
Dickens London, Legal London, Hampstead, Holland Park, Notting Hill, Mayfair, Blackfriars, Smithfield, Clerkenwell, Spitalfields, Hoxton & Shoreditch, Wapping, City of London, Royal London, Southwark (see my website for the full list and tour descriptions).
Before becoming a guide I worked for various tour operators, starting as a holiday representative and tour director in Greece, France and Spain, then moving to UK based Operations, creating holiday itineraries and contracting hotels. My knowledge as a guide and my background in tourism mean that I understand the needs of the tour operator and of their guests.
I have recently passed the Licence Professionelle exams and am qualified to guide in France as well. My speciality is the region of Aquitaine and when I am in France I am based in Bordeaux but I am also familiar with the Midi-Pyrenees as I lived there for three years. In London I work with both English and French speaking people but in France I will be working with English speaking only as although I have fluent French, my accent is British.
