Changing the Guard at Buckingham Palace is one of the oldest and most recognisable ceremonies connected with the British Royal Family.  This must-see event, where the Old Guard hand over duties to the New Guard, is carried out by soldiers on active duty from the Foot Guards.

The sight of their famous bearskin hats and red tunics is one of London’s best ceremonial sights, especially as the handover is often accompanied by a Guards band. It takes place outside Buckingham Palace from 10.45 am and lasts around 45 minutes, with the actual handover taking place at 11.00 am. Please Note: the Guard Change does not take place every day, so please check the website link to be sure of seeing it.
