Matt Harrison

Introduction:
With over twenty years in the travel industry I’ve been to quite a lot of the world but London is my home and the place I know and love best. It has so much to offer and I know just about every street, museum, gallery and building and I can help you uncover some of its hidden gems as well as all the big sites.
My interests include: Architecture, Archaeology, Art Galleries, Birdwatching and Nature, Business and Finance, Classic cinema, Traditional Pubs and Real Ale, Egyptology and Ancient Greece, Museums, Parks & Cemeteries, Transport, Science and Technology.
But whatever your background and interests, however large or small your group and whatever your age and nationality I can build an itinerary to help you get the most out of this amazing city.
British Museum:
My favourite site is the British Museum, the most visited site in the country, and with good reason. Founded 270 years ago, it is one of the world's great museums. With 80,000 objects on display it is a cathedral to the history and cultures of Britain and the world.
With me as your guide you'll learn the surprising history of the museum and get to see the very best highlights and the stories behind them, as well as some hidden gems.
My tour is adaptable according to your needs and interests. Feel free to contact me if you want to focus on a particular area. My particular areas of expertise are Ancient Egypt and Ancient Greece, both of which are very well represented.
Some things you definitely shouldn't miss:
- the Rosetta Stone, the key to unlocking the hieroglyphs of Ancient Egypt
- the world famous Parthenon Marbles from the Acropolis in Athens
- the Sutton Hoo treasures from an Anglo-Saxon burial mound
- beautiful sculpture from two of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World
Other highlights include:
- gigantic winged bulls from ancient Assyria
- a huge stone head from Rapa Nui (Easter Island)
- the 12th century Lewis Chessmen, beautifully carved from walrus ivory

What Clients Have Said:
"Touring with Matt is like meeting your London nephew who is thrilled to show you his secret places in town. We had a tour the day before of all the typical spots, so we asked Matt, late the night before his tour, to greatly modify his tour ending where we had lunch reservations. We had the most lovely day seeing quaint, lovely places with stories that may use feel like we were reading a novel of secret spots in London."
"Matt was an outstanding tour guide. He was friendly, knowledgeable, interesting and had wonderful humorous anecdotes to share about London. My girls and I learned so much about the rich history of London and explored very cool sites."
"Matt was an excellent tour guide! Great mix of knowledge and personality. We highly recommend him!"
"We just finished our second fantastic afternoon with Matt! His engaging style - he presents the long, complicated history of England in a manner so compelling you feel you have listened to a story rather than a collection of centuries of facts. He was able to convey vast amounts of information about architecture and royal history in a few hours. We learned so much and enjoyed ourselves so well on our first day that we arranged to meet him for a second day."
