Marc Blake
Hi.
I am a Londoner, born and bred, and I cannot wait to show you round my home town.
From Westminster Abbey to the Tower of London, St Paul’s to the parks, Royal London to Rock 'n' Roll, we will enjoy its myriad delights, its pageantry and its many secrets. I was an International tour guide for ten years and qualified as a Blue Badge guide in 2022.
I'm happy to guide both large and small numbers, family groups (I'm great with kids) or individuals. I am flexible and happy to plan a bespoke day or half day around your needs, be they by private car, public transport or on foot. London is exciting, fun and, in terms of European Capitals, extremely safe.
It’s the people who make London. I look forward to telling you about some of the great, the good and the damned who have trodden its pavements and lurked in its alleyways. I specialise in Classic rock, and have a Soho walk based around that. I also have a ghost walk - the London Horror - that will chill you with tales of mayhem, murder and mystery, both real and fictional - all with nary a mention of Jack the..
I'd also be delighted to show you around the leafier parts, such as Greenwich (where I will soon be living) or Hampton Court.
My background is in teaching, writing and the arts. I have published non-fiction and several novels. Spirit of the Blitz (a YA horror novel) references my interest in wartime London. Axman is a novel about old Rock n Rollers. I am also a playwright, and am currently developing play about the Art world, Called Private View.
I prefer a conversation to a lecture and to explore rather to bore. I am fully qualified to guide around Bath, Oxford, Stonehenge, Stratford-upon-Avon and Windsor castle, so if you wish to combine London with something further afield, I'd be happy to accompany you.
Do drop me a line. Tally-Ho and Pip-pip!
