Karen Eastland
Hello! Buongiorno! Bonjour! Welcome to London! I am a Londoner, born and bred and have spent most of my life living and working in this amazing city. I also spent more than 7 years abroad working in tourism in France and Italy with shorter periods in Portugal and Morocco. I had always loved my city, but on returning from my first extended stay abroad I really came to appreciate the richness of our heritage and tradition, and to view it from a visitor’s point of view. With more than 20 years of experience as a Blue Badge Guide, qualified to guide in French and Italian as well as English, I hope some of my passion and enthusiasm will rub off on you! I can tailor your tour to your personal needs and pace, and aim to be informative and fun without bombarding you mechanically with information! When visiting London, it’s not just about ticking boxes to say you’ve been somewhere, but about absorbing what’s in between as well – soaking up the atmosphere and taking in sights all around you. Whether you wish to tour on foot, or mix it up with public transport or the odd taxi, or even with your own private hire vehicle, anything is possible! So if you’re visiting for the first time, I can guide you for example at the prominent touristic sites such as Westminster Abbey, Tower of London, British Museum, areas with Royal links, St Paul’s Cathedral…… Maybe you want something more specialised? Maybe a visit to the National Gallery, Leighton House Museum, or the Wallace Collection. Or allow me to guide you through the British Galleries of the Victoria and Albert Museum of fine and decorative arts? A central London walk on a Rock and Pop theme maybe? Or perhaps you are drawn to London from all the movies you’ve seen? Greenwich is a great all-rounder. I am passionate about the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, and have been guiding tours there and around for over ten years now. Whether your interest be general, sporting, architectural, or in the ongoing regeneration of the area, I can take you on an informative and pleasant walk. I am also one of a relatively small group of guides that guide tours at The All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club where the tennis championships take place each year at Wimbledon. So let me take you by the hand (metaphorically speaking of course!) and accompany you through the streets of London… or even Windsor Castle, Hampton Court Palace, Stonehenge, Oxford…. Some Testimonials Wow... what an amazing tour. Karen was fantastic and very patient with the group. ……….thanks for a really interesting and engaging afternoon. "Karen was great and very knowledgeable. She was very patient with the kids." I just wanted to pass on my thanks from my parents, who really really enjoyed the tour yesterday….. They had a fantastic time and were full of praise for you. »
