Danielle Cohen
I’ve been showing people around London for more than 25 years, and I still love the fact that there is always another story, painting, garden or hidden corner to discover.
My favourite tours are the ones that feel like a conversation rather than a lecture. I enjoy finding out what interests my guests and then bringing London to life through the people, stories and little details that might otherwise be missed.
I have particular interests in art, gardens, Jewish London, the City of London and social history, but I’m just as happy introducing a first-time visitor to London’s great landmarks. One day I might be exploring paintings in the National Gallery, the next wandering through hidden City gardens, following the story of Jewish London into the East End or uncovering some of the more colourful characters from London’s past.
More recently, I’ve begun creating themed London Experience Days, teaming up with other talented people to bring together guiding with complementary experiences such as creative workshops, food and specialist activities. I love taking one theme and exploring it in different ways over the course of a day, giving people time not just to see London, but to enjoy it, try something new and come away feeling inspired.
Most of all, I want people to feel relaxed, interested and involved. A good tour should leave you with memorable stories, a better understanding of London — and ideally a few things you can’t wait to tell somebody else.
Some long-standing clients and colleagues may remember me as Danielle Cooper.
